Gated...

...but welcoming.

I'm so lucky - my wonderful voice teacher Becca has moved into our neighborhood -- she's a short scooter ride away from me now, so I don't have to drive to my weekly lesson! And she's creating a gorgeous studio behind their house - vaulted ceiling, skylights, open and light and cozy. Even though it's on a busy street, it feels very private and secluded. She also teaches yoga and combinations of singing and yoga. How great is that!?

She told me the home owners are metal workers, so there are lots of pieces like this gate in the house. I love the shadows it casts. And for all you Portlandia fans, they put a bird or two on it! You really have to go large to see the detail.
