Berlin today

It's not just New York that has a flat iron building, Berlin does too! As we approach the end of a fantastic few days in this lovely city I thought it apt to show you one of the many newer buildings. This stands on Potsdamerstrasse and is almost next door to our hotel. The rather strange looking tube on the pavement is a light tube with a mirror on the top designed to collect the suns rays.
Berlin is a delightful mixture of old and new, plenty of space, clean streets (with the exception of graffiti which is an art form) very little traffic, good public transport and great beer, or so I'm told! We have walked miles, caught the Hop On - Hop Off buses, stopped in some friendly coffee houses and admired the culture. It is not what I thought it was going to be like at all, it is not austere, grey or solemn. It's a city with a great heart and something for everyone - Berlin definitely rocks!
