Happy Birthday!
To My Little Brother, 50 Years Old Today :)
I can't believe that all those years ago at 5.30am (so I am told) I crept into our parents room to find my mother in the late stages of labour. I was 23 months old then, and can't remember anything about it now!
Just as my father returned home with the midwife, my brother was born :)
This is a collage of some of the pictures I have of K :) I love the middle one, helping Dad with the car.....early signs of an engineer?
We had a very happy childhood together, though of course we argued and fought as most children do at some stage.
In our late teens our mother walked out, and it was left to our father to hold the home together. Dad went to pieces at that point, so we were helping him in the every day.
Although life was difficult at that point, my brother went on to get a degree and is now a Senior Executive Engineer in telecoms.
When I moved to Bristol in the early 1990's to go to the University of the West of England as a mature student, we lost touch a bit. He was married by then and they were living in Ipswich, so we were a fair distance apart. The boys (my nephews) were born and growing up.
We have met at family events occasionally since, but that's about it, although we email and try to keep in touch about our mother. He works very hard and is abroad a lot with work, so is very busy.
Happy Birthday K, I hope you have a wonderful day and a great surprise evening out (which my sister in law has arranged with some friends) :)
