Not so Nice

We another great stay in a B&B last night. The wee man really took a real shine to the lady who ran the hotel and squealed with delight every time he saw her.

The road up to the hotel was one of the most treacherous drives I think I've ever done but the views from the top were worth ever frayed nerve. Thankfully the wee man was sound asleep when we arrived last night as I'm not sure how I would have coped accompanied by a screaming baby.

Based on a recommendation from the hotelier, we used Varazze as our midway stop today, and it was hot, hot, hot!

We didn't accomplish much other than eating a pizza for lunch and having a gelato, which Ernie demanded to have a taste of. Disastrous idea... After one bite he couldn't get enough and had a little tantrum when we wouldn't give him any more.

We drove way over our designated limit, which was compounded by bad traffic (and a closed tunnel) in Monaco. Still, the wee man remained impeccable.

We finally made it to Nice in the late eve. After a long and slightly joyless trip to get there, we were really looking forward to our first taste of the French Riviera but we were quite disappointed by pebbly beach - 'that's not a beach', said Nikki.

Time to reduce the amount of driving we've been doing, and book the next batch of B&Bs.
