Turkey Vultures - Anything But Pretty!
Red-headed raptors

Turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) are not common in the British Columbia interior. These, in Enderby, British Columbia, were getting settled for the night. They are great garbage collectors who live mostly on carrion. Not known to be very good fliers, one has to marvel how they leave their breeding grounds here to wing it back to Central and South America for our winter months.
