Butterfly, flutter ... bye

Found this little beauty in the dining room, throwing itself hopefully at the window.

After posing for a picture (or maybe just having a rest) it accepted a lift in my hands to the garden, where we said bye bye.

As someone who knows little about these things, I am indebted to this excellent site for informing me that it's a Small Tortoiseshell.
