Tomato experiment.
I decided to try an experiment with all the tomatoes that are hanging around in the garden!
This year i am trying 10 new heirloom varieties, grown here on Cape Breton Island, with the view to choosing 3-4 that i will concentrate on next year!
So, instead of tags on each plant with the name of the tomato, i've just numbered them (just to clarify, i haven't # every tomato, just a tag beside each plant!). Now that there are loads of green tomatoes out there, i need to see which one's are better at ripening on the front porch. That's why there are #'s written on the unripe tomatoes! Crazy or what...i don't know, but it was the only way i could think of to help me identify which one's are good performers and which to eliminate next year. Most of #9's have been ripe for a while now, so that's a keeper...and #6 tastes great when ripe. We'll see! Me being away for the next 2 weeks doesn't exactly help me in my understanding, i'll have to have Richard and Terry take notes each day!
It's been a laid back day here...done some work in the garden, and more scanning of the images for the family. 200 or so images takes a long time to scan!
