Planes, trains and Turkish taxi drivers
We said goodbye to beautiful Amsterdam today, finishing our trip with some amazing apple pie in the Joordan district, with Ivar and Femke, who were such wonderful hosts. From Amsterdam we got 4 or 5 trains and a taxi to Charleroi airport and then our plane home. We always seem to get a Turkish taxi driver so Mark is used to hopping into a cab with me and then listening to a Turkish conversation about where in Turkey myself and the driver are from. It's an obsession with Turkish people, and you are totally judged by where you are from! Mark no longer needs these conversations translated to him, he has developed a good ear for very basic cab-based Turkish.
