Bordeaux...and back

So this day was the first day of the rest of my life! we headed to Bordeaux for my back intervention. I had the satnav set up and everything. We allowed 31/4 hours for what should be a 2 hour drive. The satnav had other ideas. It decided to take us through the city centre, which was very nice and all that, but when we finally got to the hospital (10 minutes late) we realised we could come off the main motorway, not that far from the airport and we would have got there without the hassle. Mr BB is not used to driving in cities at all these days so he was getting a little 'stressed'...Luckily we got through it all, and the intervention was not bad at all. A little painful, a little uncomfortable, but, now I am back home to rest, there are a lot of painful feelings that are no longer there. I am sure it will take a day or so to settle down. The surgeon said allow 2 weeks. But already I am feeling much better! I expect to sleep really well tonight, which will be the first time in ages, but unfortunately I have an early dentist's appointment so can't really have a lie in!! The picture is of Bordeaux waterfront which we encountered (the photo is taken from a moving car) due to the diesel guzzling satnav...(sponsored by ESSO?) In addition we went past this artwork which was the first time I had seen it.
We vowed to return and spend some time in Bordeaux, it looks like a great place for a weekend, and easy to get around from the railway station - the whole city is covered by tram.
The weather started very wet, but brightened up this afternoon, to become bright with blue skies and big clouds.
