Anzio

To get some relief from the heat we took the train to Anzio, Gen's sister lives there and her family owns part of the beach and a kiosk which serves food and drinks. I originally hadn't planned to go in the water but it was fantastic swimming in the sea!

The temperature of the water was warm but enough to cool you down, my only previous experience of swimming in the sea is in Scotland, which is enough to take your breath away!

Anzio, of course, has another significance from World War Two. Unfortunately we didn't have time to visit the War Cemeteries.
