Rome

We arrived in Rome just after 12 today. There was a wall of heat as we stepped off the plane. Gen (short for Genevieve) met us from the bus shuttle and we had lunch before dropping off our luggage at the apartment. By the time we got to there I thought I would literally melt in the heat.

We had been awake since 3.00 am so we decided to have a nap before taking the usual city bus tour to familarise ourselves with the landmarks before we went to dinner.

This is the only shot of the Coliseum I've taken without lampposts in the way!

The heat and the weather will be a feature of my holiday shots as it turned out to be the hottest August in 37 years!
