Somewhere Street, Some Village, Somewhere
Oops! Body clock played up a bit overnight. After a very full-on but wonderful day yesterday I'd headed to bed around 10.30. By 4.30am I was wide awake and stayed that way until gone 7.00am :( I did manage to get a bit more sleep before we all headed over to Fi's again. Will, Lisa, Bailey, Charley and Milo the dog had a long 3 hour drive back to Dorset and the weather forecast wasn't looking so good so they wanted to head away a bit earlier than originally planned. We spent an hour or more together before saying our goodbyes :(
There was still some food left after yesterday's feast so we chewed our way through a bit more whilst wathcing the Great North Run in the hope of spotting Iain amongst the 60000 runners. Not surprisingly, we didn't! (We also watched the American's Cup near disaster - heart in mouths! Nice excape Mr Barker! Looking forward to tomorrow's races)
Tricia and I packed her car up to head up to Melton using her 'trusted' TomTom sat nav. Hmmmmmm . . . . . after finding ourselves on a very narrow country road that had grass and moss growing down its centre (clearly signalling that not a lot of traffic had travelled this way recently!) we found ourselves in the middle of who-knows-where. Tricia's keenness to follow the navigated instructions eventually gave way to following visual signs and we eventually 'found' the M1! Some road to lose huh?! Usual journey time - 90 minutes. Total journey time - 2 hours. A plus of getting lost though - we saw lots of nice villages and even found this older style post box. Pity the Royal Mail is about to be sold to private investors after 497 years of service to the British public.
Now back in my childhood home town of Melton Mowbray and it all seems as familiar as it did over 30 years ago.
NB - the tagged location is not accurate as we really had no idea where we were!
