Going up?

Lee and I have had this ongoing argument for the past seven years which only ever fuels itself in public......
Picture the scene: you are on the second floor of a three story building and you want the lift to take you to the third floor.
Now, the lift happens to be on the third floor already. So do you push the up button because you want to go up or do you push the down button because you want the lift to come down?
It's so nice to be right again!
