Paris, day 6
In the morning we took a walk to the hill of Montmartre, walked some nice narrow alleys and visited Sacre Coeur. At cathedral and in the streets around it was enormous amount of tourists. The cathedral was impressive from the inside as well as from the outside. Shame that photographing wasn't allowed. We also visited another, older church located next to Sacre Coeur, Saint Pierre de Montmartre.
Later we hit the business district La Defense. There we saw about 70 years old man playing hip hop with a cd-player and breakdancing on a square in front of huge La Grande Arche.
After having a glass of champagne on a restaurant's terrace we walked in a park close to the central square of La Defense. There I got into grave danger, as I was almost swallowed by a giant frog.
After taking metro to the city centre we walked through another famous park, Jardin des Tuileries. Close to the park is a bridge for pedestrians and bicyclers, Passerelle Leopold Sedar Sanghor. I noticed a couple of days ago that marrying (or engaged) couples put a lock with their names written on it to the handrail of the bridge (people did that in St Petersburg too). We did the same, as we were about to get engaged the next week. As we threw the keys to rubbish bin it's quite an effort to go to Paris and break the lock in order to remove it, if we happen to break up:)
Earlier this week we visited the island of Cite (Notre Dame is located there). This time we had time also to visit the western edge of the island. There was a beautiful park, surrounded by River Seine, would be an ideal place for a picnic, but we had eaten already so we continued to the district of Marais.
