Paris, day 3

We arrived to Musee du Louvre 30 minutes in advance, which was smart as the queue behind us was increasing length all the time. We visited the Hermitage in St Petersburg a year ago, so Louvre wasn't as impressive as it would've if we had never bee to a same kind of museum. There was still lots of impressive work of art. We were particularly interested in Mesopothamian and Egyptian art.

After over 3,5 hours in the museum it was time for a lunch (filled baguettes sold in a booth in the inner court of Louvre) in the park next to Louvre.

Photo: After Louvre we went to Notre dame. We queued for the tower tour for about one and half an hour under scorching sun, but it was worth it. The view was amazing. I was particularly impressed by the gorgeous chimeras and gargoyles (Chimera is a sculpture that doesnt work as a waterspout, like Gargoyle does. They're still called gargoyles in laymen's terminology (source)).

After the tour in towers we went to the actual cathedral. There was a queue but we got inside within 10 minutes. The church was quite impressive from the inside also. Soon after we entered the church, a service started. We listened to beautiful songs for a while and left. Stopped for a beer on our way to hostel.

In the evening I proposed to my girlfriend at the hostel room. It wasn't such a big deal, since we had long ago agreed about the wedding and have already made some arrangements and bookings for the wedding. I was still a bit nervous though I knew what the answer would be. We celebrated with a small bottle of Pannier champagne (was excellent).
