A Beautiful Day to drive to Lairg.....

in Sutherland. Lairg lies at the eastern end of Loch Shin with roads running from all four points of the compass converging on the village.

Loch Shin is the largest loch in Sutherland and is a reservoir for the Shin Hydro Electric Scheme built in the late 50's. This is a view of the loch in the village shortly after I arrived.

Lairg is famous for its lamb sales, held at the end of August each year. Farmers from all over the country and beyond come to sell their livestock and it remains one of the largest sales in Europe, despite the recent downturn that farming has faced.
