A Day At A Time.

Happy Ever After

I went to my first Spanish Wedding today.

The happy couple were both English, but have lived here most of their lives.

And the service was in Spanish in the beautiful church in Guadiaro. The priest droned on a lot about Cristo and Amin. The actual vows were very short and in Spanish, so I don't know whether she's obeying or not. Probably not.

But the reception was a-bloody-mazing! We went up a little rough road from the roundabout where Dennis Waterman was thumbing a lift from some bikers in New Tricks a few weeks ago.

We parked up and went through a large iron gate, guarded by men in black who ticked us off a list. Then up a long cobbled driveway (glad I wasn't in stilettos) and through an enchanted forest to the grounds of a magical castle.

We weren't allowed inside the house itself, but the grounds stretched away in all directions as far as the eye could see and farther. It was an Alice In Wonderland theme and we were greeted with large jam jars containing potions with the instruction "Drink Me" written on the side.

After a while of mingling while photies were taken, we then moved around to the far side of the house to where the banquet was to be served. A couple of dozen or so large round tables, each under a canopy, arranged around a huge pond.

Our table was the Knave Of Hearts. After a magnificent buffet dinner, we finished up on the dance floor, where a live band enabled us to work off some of the excesses which had been consumed before.

We left about 2 a.m. and it was still going very strong. Falling into bed around 3 and falling out again at 8:30 to play padel means a sleep on the beach is in order in just a mo.

Hope your weekend is being a fun one.
