The kindness of strangers and friends

Busy busy day today.

Middle son had a party of twins to attend in the morning at a local village hall. I'm stating that it is twins because that of course means two presents and two cards and at 9am a quick trip to the shop since I didn't have enough wrapping paper for both presents. It was a magician's party. He came with a wand and a wadge of sweeties and the ability to make his parents disappear (or so he hopes).

The older son had a party in the afternoon, this time in the back garden of a friends house where there was a trampoline and a face painter. It was an altogether different type of party. I've never been offered a can of lager on arrival at a kids party before, but every day is a new day I guess.

Our neighbour came round in the morning to invite the oldest over to play, and then again at lunchtime for the middle son, which meant that from about 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon, save for about 40 minutes over lunch, we only had the one child to look after.

Of course I spent the bulk of the hours ferrying children to and fro, staying for a while at each place to socialise and reassure, and doing a bit of shopping along with the normal feeding and changing.

My lovely husband however, he managed amongst array of other things to strip and varnish the back door.

The boys went to bed happy in the evening, content with their haul in the party bags. We were pretty pleased with our haul from our visits and visitors; plums, apples and tatties.
