The Pie Turned Upside Down?
Wigan is famous, or notorious, for the production and consumption of pies of all kinds and in large quantities. It has other traditions, though, and is establishing a new one with the annual Diggers' Festival, now in its third year, which celebrates the fact that the 17th century English revolutionary Gerrard Winstanley was born here.
