Who you calling' Dwarf???
No, this is not a native Oregonian. In fact, it is only found in the Amazon...and some zoos, of course! It is a Dwarf Caiman. And don't let the word "dwarf" fool you - it reaches 5 feet in length which is big enough! I took this through a fairly thick barrier of plexiglass and had to sharpen the image a bit is PS Express. It is my favorite of the day, along with five others that are posted on my Flickr Page.
We had a totally fun day at the zoo - it is really one of the better zoos I've been to. Not as large as our Bronx Zoo in NYC, but more manageable for walking and with some wonderful exhibits. Mostly, it was nice to just meander for several hours.
Tomorrow we will meet up with Sue and her hubby at Ridgefield NWR for our last day in the Pacific NW. It's been a great visit with my parents, but I think they are probably ready to get back to their routines and it is about time for us to get back to NJ.
We got word last night that a huge thunderstorm hit our lane and that we have at least one huge old tree down on our property with several others split. Luckily, the tree that came down missed our shed and the trailer that houses the race car. Unfortunately, it is half on our neighbor's property and it will probably require hiring a tree service to remove it. It was a beautiful old tree and I am not looking forward to seeing it felled. However, no damage to our property and the cats are fine, so we count our blessings. And the house sitter made sure that the Hummie feeders were refilled today! Priorities...
Thank you for all the lovely comments this week, and for coming along for the Portland vacation!
Ciao,
Debbi
