Deserted building
Howdy Y'all! We could tell we were entering Tennessee today because that's the "southern" greeting we got everywhere we went! We were on the road for 9 hours yesterday,& spent the night in a charming little town--Ste. Genevieve, Missouri--which is near the Mississippi River. It was settled by the french between 1725 & 1740 & has about 4 square blocks of the original french houses, which have all been kept in fantastic condition! We ate at "The Brick House" which is within that 4 blocks; it was built in 1785, & over the years has been a home several times, law offices, a general store, & now a resteraunt. We drove another 9 hours today, going through parts of Tennessee & Arkansas, & we're now in Texas. It will be about a 5 hour drive tomorrow to get to Houston, but then we can stay put for a week! I thought it appropriate on Friday the 13th to blip an abandoned building, because what can be unluckier than having businesses close & homes abandoned, as we've seen so much of as we travel through the small towns of the South.
