Blip at all costs

Not surprising that most town & city bees have a better life than those in the country. City bees have an 8 month supply of flowers supplied by the council parks & gardens department, the private gardens and all the wonderful balcony troughs. In the country apart from a few weeks of an incredible dandelion crop, the only thing left is the forest and the honeydew.
The Blip is of a new 23 house building site offered by the local parish council. (Most new sites are owned & sold by the local councils). Someone planted a few mixed seeds on the "island" but that's it for the bees until they get to the next village in the distance. In between, grass that is mowed so regularly by the farmers that no flowers bloom and maize, a poison cocktail.
I hope that our bees have it a little bit better, luckily no maize close at hand. Next year I plan to try and sow lots of bee friendly plants. Not sure if it will help but bought 18 heather plants on Monday in the hope that the bees can make use of the flowers at a time when there isn't too much on offer. However today, they were grounded by the weather.
