Venceremos!

Lookseeclick's post yesterday about the "other" 9/11 anniversary struck a chord with me. Today I've kept thinking about Victor Jara in particular - and listening to his music. It was on the 12th September 1973 that Jara, along with 5000 others were rounded up and taken to the stadium where for the next several days they were beaten and tortured almost beyond belief by Pinochet's thugs, Jara being singled out for "special treatment", so today seemed a suitable day to remember him.

Just as I was about to post this I noticed a report on Democracy Now that his widow, Joan Jara is pursuing some of the officers who tortured and killed him one of them through an American court (he is now an American citizen). If she succeeds it will be a tiny bit of justice, served very late.
