Adventure...

I had a meeting with nice car boss this afternoon. I like his cuff links.

He has decided that he wants to do something special for his 40th birthday only he can't go to NYC and shop... no that would be way too easy so he has decided to something epic for charity. You might remember I mentioned it back in April when they had a fitness assessment at Heriot Watt to check out how much work they had to put into their training plan. I note I've still not pulled my finger out of my lardy arse - I'm kicking it as I type!

He's going to Morocco.

On his bike!

The challenge begins in London with an organised event from there to Paris, fortunately we're getting someone in to help with the organisation of that part as it looks as though it may grow arms and legs and lots of people are getting on their bikes and getting involved. After Paris, he and two of his MAMIL mentalist friends will continue down through France, into Spain and over to Morocco to finish the adventure in Marrakech. The mileage is ridiculous, the hills more so, but I have absolute faith in all three of the boys that they'll complete the challenge and be proud of themselves forever.

Obviously, he's going to need support for this monster challenge... clearly that's where I come in... road trip!!!!! Whoop! We need a left hand drive minibus and a trailer full of bikes and kit to follow them/feed them/cheerlead them. We leave on 3rd April 2014 and it'll take just over three weeks so I get to spend my holiday, my birthday and Easter somewhere fabulous too! My Dad is coming along as co-pilot bike mechanic/map reader/driver/all round techie genius for support so it'll be cool to spend some time with him too.

The money raised will be going to various charities for carers - Age UK, Education For All, Respite and Niemann Picks and we're hoping to do some fundraising between now and then so I shall doubtless be on the scrounge for ideas/donations/anything else you can think of along the way!

You can add your support and keep up with the training and the actual adventure by liking our Fat Dads On Bikes Facebook page.

Epic adventure in about 200 sleeps!
