"Who Do you Think You Are?" has a lot to answer for.

Ancestry, Find My Family, FamilySearch.org, Genesreunited.

I've worked on our family tree before... The problem is, there are so many ways to go... There's me, then Mum, and Dad, which way? Dad's mum, dad's dad, Mum's mum, mum's dad? Or Si,- Si's mum, Si's dad? I've followed different trails as far back as 1746; But I've it a problem.

Si's Dad, was begot of Robert, whose mother was Mary Ellen, and whose dad was Robert. But Mary Ellen had two surnames, and on one census, she is listed above her son Robert.... and his name has been written as one name, and then scored out and written as another.

Oh My God. She was either in debate as to who his father was, or he was mibbe illegitimate and she kept forgetting to change his name.

Problem is, I get hold of one birth certificate, and I'm going to want more.

We should have done what those Indian's did in Nitin Ganatra episode. They had jotters, in which every member of each family who had attended a temple had signed the book. They actually had a living,verified tree.
