A film I watched a few years ago

There's something about drinking on your own that takes a special technique.

You've got to suffer the suspicious slings and arrows of otherwise accompanied drinkers on your side of the bar as well as the reticent gaze of the staff on the other.

Essentially the intoxication whether solitary or otherwise is the same but there is a stigma attached to the lone drinker.

Like the smoker - will the solitary drinker disappear?
