Unique studio

All this week the surrounding area is host to numerous small exhibitions of local artwork under the umbrella of Perthshire Open Studios. While the venues of the exhibitions vary from the artist's own studio, to hotel lobbies and Church halls the one thing they have in common is that they provide a unique platform from which we can savour and marvel the wide range of artistic talent which would otherwise go unnoticed. This studio in particular took my fancy. It is in the form of an old railway carriage which has been refurbished and placed in the midst of the former POW camp at Cultybraggan which is a fascinating place with bucket loads of history and i will devote an entire blip to it one day. In the meantime i liked this shot where you get just a teasing glimpse of the rusty old nissan huts through the carriage door with the backdrop of the hills, a huge contrast to the gorgeous watercolours and slate sculptures which were on show within where three artists were showcasing their work. In the afternoon I helped to man another studio where the work of our art class is on display and where I have some paintings and cards.
