Wasp vs Caterpillar

Caterpillar loses spectacularly.

I did get more shots but this is about the sharpest and the least gory, also no-one needs to see a caterpillar hanging from a wasps mouth by its neck on a Thursday lunchtime do they.

The sun had come out and I was prowling the garden with the camera when I saw a load of caterpillars on the top of the compost bin. The wasp came in from nowhere and just went mad on them, a really startling display of efficiency and madness. No discernable choice just lots of random attacks.

Because of their diet they actually bleed green as it were and if you look just behind the right antenna you can see some actually on the wasp. Amazing what drama goes on less than 10m from the back door.
