I Walk The Line . . .
Last game of the season in the Georgetown Soccer League - a play-off game to decide the champions. Kyle's team was thrashed 6-2 and collected small awards that looked as if they'd dropped out of a McDonald's Happy Meal. Only good thing about the game was that the spectators kept dry on a wonderful balmy evening - the game should have been played on Saturday, but the rain hosed down and a couple of flashes of lightning and distant rumbles of thunder caused a welcome postponement.
Our view of the game was hindered by this very enthusiastic assistant ref, who spent the game galloping up and down the touchline in front of us, waving his flag in often-futile attempts to attract the ref's attention. But mustn't complain; he was only doing his job, and it wasn't raining . . .
