Metamorphosis into sticks
Our friend Paul is captured here at Harty Ferry. He became distracted by a phone call and was rescued by us in the nick of time before he too metamorphosed into another long twisted stick on the slipway.
After this narrow escape we had a great walk along the sea wall back to the Oare Marshes bird hide where a group of keen birdwatchers, including the reserve warden, were watching a rare visitor, a spotted crake.
Hands up who'd heard of spotted crakes.
