Lumination
One of the many oil lanterns which can be found in Edinburgh's New Town. This one is outside of the Danish Cultural Institute.
There is an initiative between the World Heritage Site and Edinburgh City Council to re-instate the oil and gas street lights in the New Town where modern concrete lamps need replacing. You can find rows of these lamps along the cobbled streets of Georgian houses - they really add to the historic feel and architectural significance of the area. I think there is quite an interesting history to the lamps too - with different streets having different designs of wrought iron lamp stands.
