Life on and in the Thames

I went for a lovely walk today with a friend along the Thames footpath. We ended up having lunch in a pub in Cookham and then visited the Stanley Spencer Gallery, which is just along the road from where he spent his life. It was great looking at his paintings, for example, of Christ preaching at Cookham Regatta having just walked along the stretch of river he painted. There was lots of life on and in the river today, including a herd of cows keeping well out of the way of the oarsmen, but mingling with the geese.
