Greater Manchester’s Metrolink tram system carries over 20 million passengers every year. Connecting major railway stations and most tourist attractions, the trams run constantly throughout the day. Operations began on 6 April 1992 with a service between Manchester Victoria and Bury. Currently a network length of 45.6 miles and 69 stops are in service and expansion can be witnessed in many parts of the Greater Manchester area. The completion of the programme is scheduled to be finished by 2016.
