Moo

I haven't seen a cow in months.

I'm sure this is the norm for tons of people. Millions probably. However, coming from Oklahoma where cows lived just beyond my backyard and a John Deere Tractor store was right next to the pasture no less, I'm finding the lack of moo makers, well, odd.

While the lack of seeing cows is unusual for me what bothers me even more is the fact that the dairy products I consume have to do some serious traveling to get to me. Whether they are coming from neighboring islands or the mainland of the United States the majority of them either have to board a plane or the more likely scenario come in by ship. What? The thought of cheese at sea doesn't sound appetizing to you?

In a quick Google search I learned that there is currently only one dairy farm operating on the island with approximately two dozen cows. The top issue with operating a dairy here apparently has to do with cost. Cattle feed is expensive and you guessed it, it has to be shipped in.
