The Lord's Prayer
I was asked to photograph this today for a friend. It was hand crafted in lace by her late mother and is a bit of a family heirloom. Its behind glass so quite tricky to photograph.
Its quite big - over a metre high, and she wanted to send a copy of it to family members.
However the fascinating thing is the back-story. I can't give the full version as I don't know all the detail and it would probably need a full television programme to do it justice.
But the key part of it is that the family became dispersed around the early 1900s. This mainly resulted from the premature death of a father, and as a result the three eldest members of his family had to go to a very good childrens' home in Scotland. From there they were sent to Canada (Ontario) but unfortunately went to different families. One brother was sent to work on a farm at only 10, another brother was on another farm, but not anywhere near him. And the sister was sent to work as a domestic servant for a family in another area.
Anyway to cut a long story short the Canadian and Scottish branches of the family were re-united a few years ago following research into the family tree.
So this family heirloom is very precious to the family.
