Oh Captain, my Captain

These are our most genial hosts, Vivian and Alan.

Vivian was born and raised in Georgia, a proper Southern Belle with all the "Hi y'all s" and iced tea to prove it. Alan is all Southern too, but via Brixton, South London - an interesting combination.

They have brought us out on their boat, Pegasus, over night to Lake Lanier which is extraordinarily beautiful, and enormous. Hailing from the UK, we are finding it a challenge to comprehend the sheer size of America; this lake has a 500 mile circumference, but is a mere pin prick on a map of the state.

It has been another wonderful day of new experiences - I have learned how to tie a rope for stowing aboard ship, had a ride in a power boat and on a jet ski.
We 'anchored out in 'naked Spaniard bay' (don't ask) with some friends of Alan and Vivian's, people hopping and skipping across neighbouring decks to swap a story, share a drink or lend a hand. Heading to our berth very happy indeed.
