la grande visite

All organised for Pierre's mum and dad coming. Up early and finished the cake...it's the same one I made for my parents' wedding anniversary: here.

Also made HFW's rice pudding pork. Was a bit hesitant about trying out a new recipe for the first time for such an occasion, but I reckon they nearly always turn out the best the first time.

Made a quick quiche as well as wanted to have it ready for the evening.

They arrived about 11am and we showed them around the house. Pierre's dad got a bit teary on the terrace, I think.

We had our apéritif of kirs and nibbles out on the terrace and then we sat down to eat. Green salad to start, pork with baby potatoes for main, cheese, and then the coffee cake for dessert. All in all, it went down pretty well!

We all siesta-ed in the afternoon, before taking a walk round the village.

My parents were waiting on us when we got back to the house. Another apéritif! They didn't stay for long as George and Carol's wedding party was going on downstairs and they were invited to that.

The first parental meeting went well, all things considered!
