A Walk Through Deb's Life

Skyline

A skyline view can appear like this sometimes. It is remarkable how much it looks like a cityscape view, isn't it? This is pure country though. I was heading north on Illinois Route 47 this afternoon and road construction had me pretty much stopped still as an old rock, for nearly 30 minutes. You see, the LPGA Solheim Cup Golf Tournament will be held in my small town, a week from now. This is a very big deal for us - a town of 6,000 people with two gas stations and one restaurant and no hotels. My sad little town gets a lot of recognition but not much else from this big BIG honor.

However, we do gain the benefit of lots of road improvement so all those celebrities will be able to travel on nice smooth, non-weathered pavement, while they are traveling in and out of our town to their respective hotels and restaurants.

It's surreal for all of us here in tiny Sugar Grove, Illinois. But we're honored just the same.

So while I impatiently (swearing under my breath) waited for the female road construction worker to turn her 'Slow' sign towards me (her 'STOP' sign irritated me greatly), I was thankful that at least our roads have finally gotten repaved. We'll be able to reap those benefits long after all the celebs have left town.

Oh yea, so while I sat in traffic (something we never experience out here in our little rural paradise) I buzzed the window down and snapped off a couple of shots that show the biggest reason why I love living here.

I am grateful for farm skyline shots like this in the middle of the corn belt USA.
