The King

This is the most beautiful protea of them all; Protea cynaroides, our national flower, and it's flourishing in my garden! Does this mean I have made it as a gardener? I have three plants which flowered for the first time last year. This was my mother's favourite flower; Mom died just over two years ago and while she knew I had planted the king of proteas she never saw them flower. Such excitement!
