Hawk Or Hummingbird Moth
A hawk moth can be mistaken for a hummingbird. Notice its long probiscus.
I spent the morning reading, while Monte went bass fishing with Pat. After lunch, we drove to Sioux Narrows to visit Deb and Bri. Monte and Bri went fishing while Deb and I went golfing. After golf, we sat on their beautiful, newly constructed deck sipping margaritas and snacking on salsa and chips. I would have blipped their new deck but this hawk moth was such a rare sight for me it won. There were also two bald eagles on the pine in front of their cottage that we were watching from the deck. The guys got their limit of walleyes (the Canadians call them pickerels) so we had fried fish for dinner, steak (since we didn't know if they would catch anything), cheesy potatoes, wax beans, creamed cucumbers, fresh tomatoes and a three layer lemon cake for dessert. We waddled out of there about ten o'clock.
It was a farewell feast as we will be closing up the cabin this week so will not see them until next year. It was a dark night, no moon or stars, so I drove carefully to avoid the deer which was a good thing as I had to brake for a couple of them and also a mama black bear and her two cubs.
