Looks ominous
Today the walking club went to Rothesay on the isle of Bute. For the first time since we joined the club, the bus was full with 50 walkers on board. The route started in Rothesay and involved an out and back 12 mile walk to Ettrick Bay, which we completed in around 4 hours 15 mins.
As you can see from the blip, taken just after the walk began, the sky became very overcast with one or two breaks in the cloud, but the rain did come after about 1 1/2 hours although it did clear up towards the end of the walk as we returned to Rothesay. I must admit it was my least enjoyable walk so far with the club. I think it was more of a sociable day out for many club members, some of whom I hadn't seen before, and who walked perhps 2 or so miles before returning to Rothesay, but that was fine as there is a wide spread of ability within the club and everyone else seemed to enjoy their day. For me it wasn't an interesting walk, lacking scenic views and including lots of walking on the road rather than the hills. However you have to take the good with the bad when others have put in the effort to please a large group of people.
