Something Hyper

Oh Lawrdy.
The rain said hello to San Marcos once again!
After a three hour long Communication's Class, I left the building with my bags in hand and mind completely oblivious to nature's new state of being. Once out the door and on my way to The Black Beauty (my faithful steed....a.k.a. my car, haha!) I saw it. Up in the heavens, shining purple, blue and white, was lightning like I'd never seen before. It danced on every cloud and gave light to almost every inch of the dark night sky. I'm not one bit joking when I say--it nearly looked like daytime. Thunder growled in the distance while the wild wind tore at my hair and clothing. With little shame, I ran to my car with happy squeals and light feet. There's something about rain that just makes me excited for life!

Luckily, I got home before things got out of control. My mother and I sat on our back porch and watched the show progress. Raindrops the size of quarter's came down like tiny daggers and hit the ground with such force you could feel it from my second story room. Every now and then a clear-cut lightning bolt would flash before us and I would scream and instinctively throw my arms over my head or maybe cover my face. My mom, being the most naive/unintentionally fearless thing she is, wouldn't even flinch, but instead, proclaim very loudly, "WOW! Didja see that, Birdy?!".....No, mom. I just scream out of fear for no reason cause that's the kinda girl I am. We had a good time together watching our world get thoroughly soaked and tossed about. Twas a grand memory for me to make..

Ian came home awhile later from youth group--totally drenched--as I would expect from him to be with such rainy weather. His eyes glistened riotously as his hair stuck up as if he himself had been hit by lightning. Apparently, while Ian and Robert (a very close friend of ours) were dancing around in the rain, a lightning bolt came down and struck a car in the parking lot that they were close to. Ian saw the whole thing while Robert managed to hear it and see it from the corner of his vision. I imagine both of them screamed with probably more excitement than fear, and then most likely flapped around in disbelief of what they witnessed. Robert's brother, who had also been nearby when the lightning hit, was opening a metal door to go outside just as it happened, and he got shocked from the impact. Ian and I both didn't go to sleep for quite some time due from the adrenaline of the afternoon. Youth group went amazing for him and my day also had gone well. We played with out cats, talked about life, and then as he finally gave up to sleep. I was spinning around his room with my camera, trying to get a crazy shot. Though it wasn't quite what I expected, I definitely got something hyper. Hope you enjoyed my tale along with the close up of half my charming face.
