Building seen through tunnel

Insomnia the previous night. Late rise. Walking around Lisbon. Late lunch. Book reading. Watch the 1953 masterpiece "Tokyo Monogatari" / "Tokyo Story" by Yosujiro Ozu. Attend the party for the first birthday of one of my nieces.

The movie is a touching but very subtle story: an elderly couple leave their tiny town to visit their children on post-war Tokyo; they trouble their hosts, they feel guilty, the children cut corners and neglect them; the old folks become aware of both the virtues and vanities of their offspring.

A simple plot, but told with enormous class, contention and control. Also, as the camera rarely moves (only once, I think), the framing and positioning of characters on a scene is always well-thought, something I think someone who cares about photography can appreciate.
