Turunc Mosque
Turunc is a village of some two and a half thousand people in the winter and double that in the summer. It has a small mosque in its main thoroughfare that today was sparkling against a cloudless sky.
It's a lovely wee village with incredibly friendly people who make everyone so welcome without any hassle. I think this is the fifth or sixth time I've been here over the last eight years. We've watched the community change as tourist money has helped turn dirt roads into paved ones, as houses have been built as tourist accommodation originally but are now being bought by the locals as their standard of living improves. Yet it retains its charm. And as for food - a splendid array of restaurants and cafes provide so much choice. Today we had lunch in one of our favourites, traditional pancakes cooked over an open wood fire, with the ubiquitous Efes. It's so good to be back!
