New Road to Back of Bohuntin

No work or school today but still quite stretched.

S asked his pal A round to play today. I was pleased he could come because S hasn't spoken to him in a while. I caught up with hoovering and running batchres through the washing machine. Caley needs walked in amongst this stuff and that of course is the most important thing in the world.

We were aware of a new harvesting road being built onward from the original termination at Upper Inverroy and had only ventured along it partially complete and in a very muddy and soft state. The granular material which forms the base to the road has been graded and has dried out well and now a good thickness of crusher run material from a local quarry has been spread and compacted above this. It is a very impressive bit of engineering built by skillful plant operators. It is a bit of a gash on the landscape but the banks will eventually attract some vegetation and start to blend in a bit. It is an interesting route because other parallel roads (the glacial' fluvial feature) hidden from the Glen Roy road are visible from here. The road ends at the back of Bohuntin Hill, diagonally across the little mountain from the Glen Roy view point car park. Usefully; the in and out route now gives a five mile walk, the magical distance which seems to keep Caley happy.

On leaving the house I was certain of a soaking but it dried up nicely and there were glints of sunshine and we returned dry. Ironic then that at the same time M and her friends got drenched in an Allicante downpour at a local market.

I made the boys home made burgers for their tea. It is a faf. You need to cook the diced onion pre mixing in, grind some cumin, corriander, bread crumbs, grate some parmesan. And, you need to do this early so that the burgers once formed can spend some time chilling. If you don't chill they fall apart when you start cooking them. Oh aye; and they got home made wedges too, a healthier option than chips, broccoli and carrots. Thankfully it was well received.

I'm just going to give the boys the 15 minute warning so that they can conclude their game before we give A a run home.

Mrs Cakes will be home tomorrow. We have all missed her but I am really pleased she has had a lovely time with her friends.
