The Lone Swimmer

I have this lone swimmer
on loan
from the National Maritime Museum.

I saw the exhibit
on a visit
and emailed them later
to ask if I could have it
at home for a while.

Don’t worry about him.
He’s in a large tank
and I feed him regularly.

He likes chips.

I lounge in my lounge
and watch him swim.

He eases the depths of my loneliness
but he goes back next week.

I’m not sure what to replace him with?
