The difference between romance and reality

You might find it difficult to believe but at the tender age of not very old actually, there is a very wide gap between what would be expected at your first date and the reality of a children's party at the school. Child #2 is a bit of a fan of dancing and I have to say, she is rather good at it. She went to her first school disco, advertised as a frequent event which was news to us or maybe we were never invited, with the hope of actually dancing the night away.

She even had a date, and met up with her friend for the evenig with an understandable uncomfortable reticence on the part of the wee lad and the difficult to control excitement of our daughter.

However the reality as I said to one of the other parents going in, was probably going to be more to do with lots of boys running around and a very quiet 'dance floor'. Daughter was therefore not impressed by the performance of her friends who seeing our eldest in high school looks to be growing out of them certainly socially. That said, the day I decide to take her to a ceilidh, no doubt she shall spend all evening running around stuffing baked potatoes into cups like erm someone I know used to do.
