Castle Street

I think I may do a "one street" series on Castle Street. This is a street that has seen hard times for at least 30 years. Many storefronts are boarded up, and houses are run down. It is however starting to show some signs of life. A nearby low-income housing complex is in the process of being built with many apartments and houses already completed. It is also becoming an antique district of sorts, with a growing number of these types of shops opening regularly. Several restaurants, an ice cream shop, and a "record" store are now located here.

Many residents who ride bicycles do so because it is their only means of transportation.

I am certainly not an expert on Castle Street or its history, but I am learning and hope to post more blips in the weeks to come.
