You can't miss the Missoni
This is the Victoria Street facade of the Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh. The development replaced the former Lothian Regional Council Headquarters building designed by Robert Matthew Johnson-Marshall & Partners. Historic Scotland wanted this building to be retained. Personally, I'm glad they lost out on that.
The new building sits in the same footprint as the old Council HQ between the High Street and Victoria Street fronting onto George IV Bridge and was designed by Allan Murray Architects . It received an award from the Civic Trust in 2010.
We stayed in the hotel for a night - second window down from the top on the left - and very nice it was too, but I couldn't get the coffee machine in the room to work. Too technical for me.
