It’s been over 30 degrees and perfect blue skies here for the past few days. Crazy! I packed to come here with the British weather forecast in mind (silly, I know) so I’m a little gutted that I decided to ‘pack light’ on the summer clothes front. On the bright side though, I bought some new sandals today, and I’m getting über tanned! YAY!
Today has been a good day. A morning session of French lessons as usual, but I then ventured into Lyon with Hana and Ida. With no real plan of what to do with our afternoon we just wandered around in the sun, sorting a few things out as we went along. We discovered the ‘Saint-Paul’ area of town, where this picture was taken. It’s part of the old town of Lyon, and is a very popular area amongst students. Plenty of little café’s and reasonably priced restaurants fill the little cobblestone streets. We found the most amazing sweet shop I’ve ever seen, and an ice cream shop with the widest variety of different ice cream flavours. Not even kidding, I think there must have been about 40 different flavours. So we walked around like right fatties the rest of the afternoon with bags of sweets and ice creams in our hands. But we're still feeling like we're on holiday, so its ok.
I arrived home asking myself why on earth I decided to wear trousers rather than shorts and why I was even carrying a cardigan around with me when it was 35 degrees. It was clearly too early this morning for me to be thinking straight. The rest of the evening was spent swimming, talking with the family and just chilling.
